Tomatoes from Red Fire Farm
Hello New Englanders!

September is knocking on our door and we say, yes please!
Over the weekend New England Fall Events took a visit to check out the Tomato Festival at Red Fire Farm in Granby, MA. With dozens of tomatoes to be tasted and an incredible August harvest to be enjoyed, it was a beautiful day for a festival at this pretty farm. Stay tuned for our article covering this special day coming soon!

Though many folks are still drowning in August tomatoes, we’re thrilled to see more New England apple orchards opening up for PYO apple picking with each and every day. It's still early-season apples that you'll find right now- Paula Reds, Ginger Golds, Early Macs, and Zestar.

It's always good practice to check with the farm the day-of to see if they are picking--especially since some orchards will begin selling pre-picked before pick-your-own fully ripens.

New England Fall Events' Guide to local PYO Apple Orchards makes it easy to find contact info, maps, directions, and farm features for planning a memorable and visit. Here are links to our state apple picking guides: ConnecticutMaine,MassachusettsNew HampshireVermont, and Rhode Island.

If you love berries, many local farms are offering pick-your-own raspberries right now. Remember, raspberry bushes are prickly so wear long sleeves and pants to avoid getting scratched (and why it may not be ideal for young children). Don't let that stand in your way--there is nothing like popping a mouthful of sun-warmed raspberries in your mouth!

As August wraps up, Balloon Festivals seems to be happening every weekend somewhere in New England. This week it's the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest--a multi-day affair of magical moments.

In case you missed it, we recently posted our Guide to Dog-Friendly Events in New England this fall. If you have a beloved pooch or two that you would love to share the season with, please check out these terrific events.

Last but not least--we have a wonderful contest to win a four-pack of tickets to the Discovery Museums in Acton, MA.
